Ten months!

Maggie turned 10 months old this week! The big story lately, of course, is the walking. She's getting steadier and more confident by the day, and she loves to walk around holding mama or daddy's finger. If she wants to walk and we won't give her a finger to hold, she pitches a fit and actually stomps her feet -- hilarious! She still loves pushing her little mail cart around, and she's gotten so good at steering it now that she can zip from room to room, turn corners, even reverse. She still loves climbing in, on, or up anything she can. She'll happily play on the stairs for long stretches of time, and she's gotten pretty good at navigating them. And she loves playing on our deck chairs!


Not much to report on the talking front, though she's ramped up her babbling lately. She still comes out with a lot of mama's and dada's, but we aren't quite convinced yet that she knows what she's saying. And, thanks to Patrick, the answer to the question "Who's this?" is ALWAYS "dadada."


Maggie's still an incredibly friendly, smiley, and happy baby, and she's also very independent and curious. She isn't clingy at all -- when we have playdates, she takes off and only looks around for me if she gets stuck or has a bump or a fall. But she is getting more and more affectionate. She still likes to give slobbery kisses, and now she's added hugs to her repertoire, too. It's very sweet!


Maggie's a good listener; whenever we tell her "no," she generally obeys right away, though she does whine or cry a little bit. So she listens, but she likes to let us know that she's not happy about it!

She started clapping her hands this week -- so cute! Since she's just learning, she does it all the time, whether it's appropriate or not. And she still loves to wave at people, although now people she meets sometimes get applause instead. :)


Maggie also recently figured out that it's interesting to put objects into containers, or on top of things. Then you can pull them out/off and do it all over again and again! She's also learned that the rings go on the stacker base, as well as coming off. But she isn't too good at actually getting them on there yet. And for some reason, she loves to hold two objects in one hand at the same time. Sometimes she gets so frustrated (and cries!) because they're just a little too big to both fit in her little hand. Why she wants to do this, I have no idea, but she really does.


She remains a fabulous eater. She will try most anything she's offered, and likes most everything she tries. Tonight we went out for dinner, and she ate hummus, baba ganoush (which she LOVED -- that's my girl!), pita bread, feta cheese, black olives, falafel, and bean salad. Her mama was very proud. Her daddy was a bit disappointed about the olives -- I think he doesn't want to be outnumbered and forced to eat them. :)


I can't believe she's in the double digits already -- and will be a year old in just 2 months! Maggie's already seeming more and more like a toddler to me and less like our little baby. Which is exciting and wonderful and just as it should be...but also a little bittersweet, too.

I can't believe he puts up with this.
