Maggie loves watching this video of a dancing baby -- and sometimes she gets into the spirit and breaks out dancing herself. She hasn't mastered all the moves that the other baby has, but she does have plenty of enthusiasm.
Until she gets distracted and moves on to something else!

Birthday videos
Here are some videos from Maggie's birthday party. Sorry if they're a little long -- I did edit them down, but they may still be too long for anyone who isn't a doting parent or grandparent. :) Thanks to our friend Kim who took the videos for us!
Here's Maggie during our rousing rendition of "happy birthday" and the burning of the scary candle:
It took Maggie a while to warm up to eating her cupcake. Here she is once she's gotten going:
Finally Maggie was all done with her cupcake .... or maybe not!

Walking update
Maggie is getting better and better at walking -- here's a video from this evening as evidence. Notice her hands up in the air? She almost always walks around like that. So funny!

Steps!
Maggie took her first steps on Tuesday! I went out to run a quick errand, and about 3 minutes after I left the house, I got a call from Patrick: "Guess what Maggie just did!" Yep, 3 steps in a row. Before that, she'd taken one step several times, but never more than one. Since Tuesday evening, she's been doing it constantly. She's still very wobbly, and I think the most she's taken in a row so far is probably 6 or 7, but she's definitely on her way to walking. We haven't gotten a really good video yet, but here's one we captured today where she takes a few steps:

Jazz Brunch
Maggie really enjoyed dancing to the music (with a little help from Jeff and Stephanie) during jazz brunch at Atwoods on Sunday.
She got a little carried away dancing with Jeff -- she'd have been dancing on the table if he'd let her. :)

Maggie and Her Walker
A while back, Maggie got a little "Mail" cart to push around. She loves to push it as far as she can in one direction and then wait for us to turn it around so she can push it back the other way.
But right when she got the cart, she had a little more trouble with it, as the following video illustrates:
The second video precedes the first, so you can see that Maggie got right back on the horse!

Vacation Movies
Couple quick videos from vacation down at Dad's. We had a great time, and a special thanks to Mike, Patty, and Dad who all helped out with babysitting duties. More Pics to come.

New moves
Maggie's got a few new moves these days. First, she's now eating finger foods, mostly cheerios. Cheerios are great because they stick to your hand, which makes it easier to actually get them to your mouth. She's pretty good at picking them up, but not too good at getting them into her mouth. As you can see, Maggie's figured out that the more you pick up at a time, the more likely it is you'll actually succeed in eating one. :)

Another new move: climbing stairs. On Friday, Patrick went upstairs for something, and Maggie followed him to the base of the stairs. As he headed up, he commented that she'd be climbing the stairs before we knew it. He was right -- when he came back down a minute later, she was on the second step. Guess it's time to install that baby gate at the bottom, too. :)

I love this last one -- Maggie's waving! She waves hello, she waves goodbye, she waves just to wave. She waves at us, she waves at visitors, she waves at Frank Jones, she waves at the baby in the mirror. It's pretty adorable, don't you think?

Chatterbox
Maggie suddenly started jabbering consonants on Monday, mostly bababa's and mamama's. She's quieted down a bit since then, but she was quite the chatterbox on Monday and Tuesday -- she had a new skill and she needed to use it! Here's a video from Monday. We think she sounds a bit like Donald Duck. :)

Counting is hilarious!
This is, by far, the hardest Maggie has ever laughed. Who knew counting was so funny???

Somebody get this girl a tambourine
And while you're at it, a sense of rhythm. She has plenty of enthusiasm, though. :) Perhaps she has a future as a folk musician?

Torture time!
Oops, did I say "torture time"? I meant "tummy time," of course! Though Maggie might argue that it constitutes torture. She still hates tummy time:
But she's tolerating it a little better now that she's learned to roll over and can thus put an end to the dreaded tummy time, at least on occasion:
Apologies for the poor video quality -- our camera does not take the best videos, but it's better than nothing. Hope you enjoy them anyway!
P.S. Did you spot Frank Jones in the second video?
